Amazing hair images, from all the top hairdressers, with favourite past collections to the ‘here and now’ look of today, all in one specially designed website, with a twist…it’s all been created to help raise money for the official industry charity, Hair and Beauty Benevolent!
Curator UK is the brainchild of Mark Woolley of Saks Hair & Beauty, Gavin Graimes of Oliver & Graimes Multimedia and HABB president and L’Oreal Professionel Academy manager, Gaynor Hodge.
“It’s the ultimate reference site for hairdressers across the world. We spend so much time, energy and money creating a hair collection but once it’s appeared in the hair press, where does it go? Possibly on your own website but I realised that there was a fabulous opportunity out there to create a unique, desirable reference website where all the leading hairdressers could showcase their collections – their peers could visit to draw inspiration, journalists could use it as a single point of reference and overseas stylists could appreciate the expertise of true British Hairdressing,” explains Mark on the concept behind the launch of Curator UK.
Curator UK is about collecting the key current hair collections from the ‘movers and shakers’ of UK hairdressing. Trevor Sorbie, Anthony Mascolo and Eugene Souleiman are the first hairdressers to sign to the site and place their ‘favourites’ and current collection on the site. Broken down into four categories, visitors will click Vision - to read Curator UK’s brand statement, The Benevolent to understand the relationship between the website site and charity, Favourites will allow viewers to see the Ambassadors of Hairdressing ultimate hair collections of all time that helped change the face of hairdressing, and Collections – the current collections of Britain’s finest hairdressers. As the site grows more categories will be added such as a chat room, trend reports, interviews, etc.
“The marketing and site development of Curator UK will help to grow the business. Using email and technical advancements will ensure that this site is accessible to as many people interested in the hair industry across the world. We’ll be looking to eventually open up the site to advertising opportunities and interlink the two” comments Gavin.
Gaynor Hodge concludes, “Everyone at HABB really appreciates this amazing concept – not only does Curator UK help to raise the profile of British Hairdressing but it will also create an amazing amount of much-needed money each year for HABB to ensure that those people in our industry less fortunate can have a better life. To be associated with such a creative and innovative project is a special opportunity for HABB. Curator UK brings knowledge and inspiration to both us as an organization and also to hairdressers across the world, which is just unbelievable.”
Curator UK launches on 1st August 2005. The movers and shakers of the hair industry will be individually invited to place their latest hair collections on the site for a £500 fee for one year’s inclusion. All profits from Curator UK will be donated to the Benevolent each year. |
